The Crosby Award Winning Golf Community

Oddly enough, when the idea for the Master Planned community of Rancho Santa Fe was first conceived way back in the early part of the last century, no one could have foreseen what a place of prominence golf would hold in the future. The Crosby guard gated community is indicative of just how the area has drawn golf aficionados from around the globe.

The Crosby was actually voted as one of America’s 100 Top Golf Communities in both 2006 and 2007 by Travel and Leisure golf magazine. Not surprisingly, this community within Rancho Santa Fe is built on what was once the site of the original Bing Crosby estate. Residents enjoy a 35,000 sq. ft. clubhouse along with a tenis facility, a swim and athletic club as well as a 1.5 mile ‘cost to crest’ trail which runs along the San Dieguito River.

There are 443 home sites on the 722 acres that make up the Crosby. Of these, there are 80 custom home sites and 363 guest builder homes. Architecture is reminiscent of Spanish Revival and there is actually a smaller community within the Crosby, another gated neighborhood, the Lakes. There are 357 home sites within the confines of this ‘sub-community’ that was developed by Lennar.

Schools children attend include Solana Santa Fe Elementary School (RSF), Earl Warren Middle School and Torrey Pines High School. There are also nearby private academies and a Catholic school within easy traveling distance. Within three miles of the Crosby there is a shopping center and just across the street there is a smaller center that has dry cleaners, a few restaurants and a variety of small shops. There is also a roadside fruit and vegetable stand which the locals frequent.

From the 30,000 sq. ft. club house to the championship golf course, this is one community that prides itself on having the best there is to offer in recreational activities. With its par 70 course and the Junior Olympic swimming pool, tennis courts, snack bar, Jacuzzi and massage rooms, the Crosby has a little something for everyone.
