The Groves: Country Living at Its Best
What would Southern California be without their ever famous Valencia oranges? This is one of the most endearing features of the Groves, aptly named, as this gated community was built among the hilly terrain of some of California’s prize orange groves.
Within the 101 acres that comprise the Groves, lots are parceled, for the most part, from one to three acres and the homes range anywhere from 4,000 sq. ft. to 5,500 sq. ft. The architectural approach is fashioned after Spanish Mediterranean ranch style homes, based on the plans of the developer William Strong who began construction in the mid part of the 1980’s.
The Groves has 50 acres of dedicated open space which is especially appealing to the 35 families now residing here. For those with an affinity to the outdoors, there are 2 community tennis courts and of course the awesome beauty of gently rolling, citrus covered hills.
This small community is country living at its best in the midst of San Diego County where all residents enjoy a peaceful, quiet lifestyle. Most children attend schools in the Rancho Santa Fe School District while some fall outside the RSF area. There are also a few private academies and a Catholic School if parents opt not to send their children to public schools. However, public schools such as Torrey Pines High School have won national awards for excellence in education.
Just a few years ago homes in the Groves were listed between $1.8 and $3.3 million but recent MLS listings indicate that property values have significantly increased and now listings begin at $2+ million unless a property can be found an a short sale. Even so, these are among the most reasonable of prices considering the fact that this is, after all, Rancho Santa Fe real estate – enjoying the honor year after year of being among the most affluent communities in the United States.
